BIOSIGNALS - the "International Conference on Bio-inspired Signals and
Systems" - has currently an open call for papers. This prestigious
conference is organized by INSTICC with technical co-sponsorship by
the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society. A special issue
of the IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Circuits and Systems (http://ewh.ieee.org/soc/cas/tbcas/)
will be edited based on the very best papers of the conference.

BIOSIGNALS-2008 will be held in Funchal, Portugal (island of Madeira)
next year, on January 28-31, in collaboration with the University of
Madeira.

The purpose of the International Conference on Bio-inspired Systems
and Signal Processing is to bring together researchers and
practitioners from multiple areas of knowledge, including biology,
medicine, engineering and other physical sciences, interested in
studying and using models and techniques inspired from or applied to
biological systems. A diversity of signal types can be found in this
area, including image, audio and other biological sources of
information. The analysis and use of these signals is a
multidisciplinary area including signal processing, pattern
recognition and computational intelligence techniques, amongst others.

The conference program includes a number of Keynote Lectures to be
delivered by distinguished world-class researchers. It also includes at
least one panel on a relevant topic of research. The list of currently
confirmed invited speakers can be found at the conference web site.

Submitted papers will be subject to a double-blind review process. All
accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings, under
an ISBN reference, in paper and in CD-ROM support. The proceedings
will be indexed by several major international indexers, including
INSPEC, DBLP and ISI Proceedings*SM. Additionaly, a selection of the
best papers of the conference may be published in a book, by
Springer. Best paper awards will also be distributed during the
conference.

Please check further details at the BIOSIGNALS-2008 conference web
site (http://www.biosignals.org). There
you will find detailed information about the conference structure and
its main topic areas. This conference is co-located and a component of
the Joint Conference on Biomedical Engineering Systems and
Technologies (BIOSTEC www.biostec.org)

Special sessions are also invited. If you wish to propose a special
session, for example based on the results of a specific research
project, please contact the secretariat.

Kind regards,
Marina
