Travelling to Workshop on Benchmarking in Computer Vision

The workshop will be held from Monday 17th November to Friday 21st November. The venue is Milsoms Stratford Road, Dedham, Colchester, Essex, which is a very nice small country hotel. The nearest large town is Colchester and if you are travelling by public transport this is where you will arrive.

By Air

There are three London airports Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted. Stansted is by far the closest to Colchester but most trans-Atlantic flights arrive at Heathrow.

Heathrow Airport

Heathrow has 4 terminals.

Take the Heathrow Express train to London Paddington see timetable below. Then take the tube (underground), Circle or Hammersmith & City line, to Liverpool Street. From there take the train to Colchester.

Take the Gatwick Express to London Victoria, see timetable below, and then take the tube (underground), Circle Line, to Liverpool Street. (You can also take the Victoria Line to Oxford Circus and then change to the Central Line to go to Liverpool Street) From there take the train to Colchester.

Take the Stansted Coachlink, see timetable below, to Colchester North railway station. Before arriving at Colchester contact Adrian and someone will meet you at the station.

Colchester -> Stansted
Monday to Sunday 0450 0550 0640 0740 then hourly until 2043 2143

Journey time 59 minutes. The single fare is currently £10, return fare £15.

By Train

The Liverpool Street to Colchester trains run at approximately half-hourly intervals during the day. The journey takes under an hour. Services also connect with Colchester from Norwich, Ipswich, Harwich, Felixstowe and Clacton/Walton. (Note: Colchester has three stations - these directions refer to the main station which is really called Colchester North station but `North' is usually omitted. The other two are Colchester Town or Hythe don't go to them.)

You will join the A12 just South of Ipswich. Continue South for about 7 miles then take the exit signposted "Stratford St. Mary and Dedham". (If you reach Colchester you have gone too far south.) Take the first right signposted to Stratford St. Mary and Higham. Go under the bridge. Then keep going for about 1.5 miles through Stratford St. Mary. Turn left signposted for Dedham. You are now on Stratford Road and are very close to Milsoms. Go over the bridge and turn left where the road widens into lay-by. Milsoms car park is on the right.

Go past Colchester on the A12. After about 8 miles take the left exit signposted "Stratford St Mary, Dedham and Higham". A taxi from Colchester North Station to Milsoms takes about 20 minutes outside rush hour (about 40 minutes in rush hour) and costs about £12.
